Colored Rangers Grow Out Journal/ Video Added pg 11

I just saw that Strombergs and Privetts also sell a red or black broiler, is that also the same type of meatbird as the colored rangers? Sorry for the intrusion....

Sounds like you have experience with both. So the rangers are similar to Cornish X's size but are more active and attain proper weight a little bit slower. The red and black broilers are more active than the Cornish x, but tend to be slower growing, not as heavy and less economical. Am I on the right track?

Which ones? The JMhatchery or the other slower broilers??

The red and black broilers are NOT the same as colored rangers. Jmhatchery sells the colored rangers.

No the rangers are nothing like Cornish X's,only thing the same is that they are considered broilers. I have not personally grew the red and blacks but my neighbor did last year, and I'm judging what I say from his grow out. In my opinion the red and blacks are junk.

From my research and experience the Cornish grow quickest followed
up by the Rangers.

Hey Harp, where is my invitation to a Sunday chicken dinner?

This darn thread is feeding my Ranger cravings. I only have 3 left in the
freezer.

Any one know if there is a difference in the taste or fat content? I like a leaner chicken and was wondering if these color Rangers had less fat since they were more active?

You would probably like the rangers! I did as close as possible to a side-by side taste test last year, and we all prefered the ranger. It was leaner, but MORE tender, had better flavor. They were hard to package, though, because mine had freakishly LONG legs!!!

I have 50 on order from JM, and he was SOOO nice!!!

Good luck, and Harp, GREAT thread!!!
