Colors of chicks

We recently decided to try and let a broody hen hatch some eggs for her and our first time. Well it was a success! 6 of 7 hatched so far. Waiting for the last egg. I have a black cochin bantam rooster and hen. We have 1 chick that is solid yellow. Does that mean there were some white along the line in my cochins?

Sounds like both the rooster and the hen is carrying recessive white.
If you play the odds. 1/4 chicks would be white, 1/4 would be black only and 1/2 would be black also carrying white hidden.

We were told that the mother was a blue of the 3 black cochins I have. So we were hoping we get a blue if that is possible. I also let the black rooster mate with my white cochin and hoped we got a blue one. I put 1 egg from them and it hatched a yellow chick. And I got 1 yellow chick from the black cochins and looks like 3 black chicks. I also put 2 eggs from the golden sebright hen with my black rooster. 1 hatched so far and we waiting on that last egg.

If your hen is blue there's a 50/50 chance of a blue chick when bred to black.
Is the hen blue? Or are you saying she's black?
Blue doesn't hide under black. If its blue its blue. If its black its black.
Black Xs black will never produce blue.
Black Xs white will not produce blue either unless under the white its blue or splash. White will cover blue, black or splash.

I have 1 black rooster and 2 black hens and 1 white hen. We were told the mother of the black ones is blue. This is getting confusing.

The mother of the black ones could of been blue. Blue bred to blue or black can produce black chicks. But those black chicks can not produce blue chicks when bred to a black rooster.
Black chicks from a blue hen is no different then black chicks from a black hen.
Neither carry blue. Its not like this black chick will have some blue chicks because they're from blue parents.
