Colors that attract chickens

Thanks everyone for your insight. I decided to go plain wood but with a red mehndi patterns on the walls just to make it interesting to me and hopefully them. I will post pictures when complete.

Great thing with chickens is they'll show you their appreciation for decor by getting their dander all over it, rendering everything an appealing gray-brownish color (didn't stop me from putting a few decorations in either).

Needs a front lip about ~6" high to keep bedding and eggs inside the nest.
If nest will be mounted above floor, good to have a perch about 8" out in front of bottom of nest for easier access.

Tho I'm not much for decorating, I like your red and white design...Love a 'real' red!
Did you draw those designs out before painting them? Nice brushwork!

Paint; most are poisonous to chickens. They may not peck at it but I prefer not to paint the inside of coops or coat/cover with anything a chicken may peck at and ingest.

This will be sitting underneath the main coop. It's a place to go when we have torrential rain plus an extra spot for laying. There's a perchout front but wasn't able to bring it up very high. I painted the designs myself then clear coated them. Had a hard time finding safe paint for chickens. Found this stuff a while back and so far no problems. I used clear on a piece inside their coop about a year ago. No issues thus far.

There's a perchout front but wasn't able to bring it up very high.

I see the 'perch' but it won't keep bedding in and may not help them jump up without wing hitting sides of nest(which may or may not be a problem). I find they like to stroll the perch when choosing which nest to use. The bottom of the 10" entrance hole is 4" from bottom of nest, lots of space for bedding.
