Hi, welcome to BYC!New here.
What “color” is this chick considered?

I think the accepted term for Silkies is actually self blue. Looks like possible bars on the wing so maybe some cuckoo mixed in with some bleed through, what might be diluted red..
I know some Silkies get the bleed through in the hackle area and would not be considered desirable for breeding. But still perfectly cute.

Ahh!Thank you. I am currently chicken-less so BYC is keeping me sane until I get new ones in March.

I'm sure that picture doesn't quite do justice to her lav color.Blue is 1 copy of the recessive diluter gene to black. It looks essentially like a dark grey. Can you explain the difference between blue and lavender? Or show examples?
Lavender will only create lav when bred to Lav. Yes, in my opinion even with bleed through his (oops did I say that) base color is still Lav.These are just 7-8 weeks old. Is it still lavender with the buff/orange around the neck?
This is the only one of 6 with similar colors. Tempted to hatch more.
Hah! I’m always tempted to hatch more.
