Thank You all for your nice replies. I am glad she is no longer suffering either which brings me to the question...how much should we intervene. I feel sick for trying to force feed her a little. I should of just let her be.

They are very good at hiding their illnesses. Sometimes I wish they could speak human and tell us what's wrong.

That's a good question - how much should we intervene. I think it's good you're going to try and get a necropsy because it will help determine what, if anything, you or any of us with the same problem can do to address it. If we have the tools to address it and/or it's something in the environment we've created that the chicken is reacting to I think it's good to intervene. If the chicken is old, or has some kind of genetic problem etc there's really nothing to do but make them comfy. Just some thoughts - sorry for your loss.
