Comb turning purple

Having raised 8 broods of chicks from birth to 12ys and having them survive heat and freezing weather it is safe to say I know a bit about their care. I have provided the usa gov windchill website in an effort to offer real evidence that frostbite can occur when it is 40f outside and the wind is blowing.. I have seen similar damage on crowns from frostbite, the reason for my post. Fact based informed opinions often provide more help then information that lacks the facts. I have included in this post again the site that proves windchill is indeed something to factor in when weather hits 40F. I am not here to debate but to help someone in need. We all love our birds and want what is best for them. Gaining NEW insight from reputable places should not cause issues but offer some relief. It is the quality of the information that may help a worried parent trying desperately care for their sick animal.

Update
Keep an eye on your outdoor temperature gauge closely. One or two degree drop can cause frostbite issues. We have a weather station on our roof that gives current temp, wind speed, humidity and wind chill information. We are aware of exactly what outside is doing from the comfort of our home. We have the AcuRite 00634A3 Wireless Weather Station with Wind Sensor white. Found on amazon for under 70 bucks.

Notice the purple on crowns. This is evidence of frostbite.. FYI ONLY not looking for a debate.
