Thanks for tthe link. Thats very interesting.Emu eggs are awesome. Now i want a Emu. LOL!!

The egg that pipped wrong end hasnt done anything since. My 11 yr old daughter and her friend Came running to tell me they saw it move. That was about 1 hr ago.I havent seen it or the smallest egg do anything since they pipped.I have another egg that has pipped and zipped half way pushing trying to get out.It started after the other to.

K i will do that before i go to bed.I will give them till then.I just dont want the other 2 thats hatching good now to get shrink wrapped or do i need to worry about that?

HaHa if you do i wanna see the size of egg they would lay!Hey you could probaly feed your entire family with one egg.

Ive heard they lay a pretty blue egg.

For various reasons, I was born in Khartoum (I am a brit BTW), so my mom had no toys for me
to play with and they gave me ostritch eggs to roll around!!!! they had the contents removed
and were wrapped inside some kind of leather straps. I think my mom still has them stashed
somewhere..... I should ask her to bring them over when she comes for christmas... Can't
wait to show her my chickies...

ostrich eggs for play toys?, how cool! My son came home from school with an Emu egg last March, we bought a second incubator, adjusted the temp and waited and hoped...it did NOT hatch. And thank Gawd! Cause what the heck would I do with an Emu and no fence?

My hatch has been stressing me a bit, the Broody is getting off the eggs a little more than I'd like and it's COLD out there! We have tandem broodies that we split the 9 eggs under...today I find one broody gone, 8 eggs under the more vigilant broody (did she steal them?) and a lone egg in the middle of the coop, ice cold. We took advantage of the situation to candle that one egg. It's green and even WITH 2 flashlights I couldn't see in. My 9 year old daughter says she saw a head and beak. (Wishful thinking?). So under it went again. 10 more days!!

Yay! Congrats on your chickies! Cant wait to see pictures!

Today is day 7 for my BBS Orpingtons. Out of 16, 8 have veins, and out of those I saw 3 definite bouncing babies! One was doing back flips! lol. I always eggtopsy, so of the 8 tossed 6 had blood rings and 2 were clear. This is the first time I've tried not turning for the first week, and I am very impressed at how many started, even if they did quit. Even the 3 cracked eggs started, and one had a teeny tiny embryo. It was dead, but I am still impressed considering the odds against them.
