Thank you for the name suggestion...

We have been trying to think of a Halloween name for the single chick that was born yesterday and Boo fits perfectly.

The same happened to me. My daughter and I saw these little guys and had to have them. I have to laugh because I entered the contest to win the eggs from Fluffy Bottoms. Just went and checked and my one of the eggs in my second set in lockdown has pipped.
Ohh egg-citing! How are is the pipping coming along?

Oh duh, I just read that it's out. Brain not awake yet, 4 double shifts in a row lol Yaay grats!

Checked a couple of eggs last night; in one of the banty's I could see the heart beating ;-) The EE's that I checked, mostly just a big shadow and couldn't see anything in the Marans....

Thanks. We are up to 5 Serama chicks. 4 from the first batch and 1 from the 2nd. Keeping my fingers crossed for the next 2 weeks. If they make it that long then they should make it.

I candled my eggs last night and it looks like 11/22 are developing so far. I guess not too bad for my first time and shipped eggs.
That is awsome for shipped eggs and first time incubating. I wish I could candle my eggs. I am only on day 2 though. The waiting is killing me.

I know I really hate the waiting also!!! It is so hard to leave them alone! I am only on day 9 so we will see..... I hope that the 11 go on to hatch....

Can I join? First time with a broody hen (she's only 6 months old), a black Australorp. She's setting on a mixed batch of 9 of our eggs, so not sure what we'll get. Know that 2 are from the Ameraucanas, but other than that, they're all brown eggs. I went back and forth on if I should let her try to hatch at this time of year, and my husband thinks I'm crazy, but I just had to let her try. Put her on the eggs on Oct. 22 and moved her to a box in a small kennel the next day.
I've only had chickens since March, so I'm very new to all of this. Really hoping she gets some chicks. Tried candling on Monday and Tuesday, but didn't have much luck. Can barely see into the brown eggs and not at all with the green eggs.

Put my eggs in lockdown lastnight. One of the EE eggs was gently rocking back and forth. Thats it i am so addicted already. Fingers crossed my first hatch does well. :)
