Drove 3 hours away tank of gas get these 7 palomino eggs.Think your nuts?...6 hours and a tank of gas...geez.THATS NUTS
!I better get at least 2 and i expect more.. Heck all this trouble better get 8 chicks! haha.
I better not screw this up.Would love to figure out how to keep my humidity up over night.Get it to 46 and its down to 26 or there abouts by morning .wonder if i put a small sponge in?Dont want to drowned them though thats worse.Any ideas?
Anyway setting them tonite.My very first non shipped.Also they are near white so i may see veins etc well for the very first time in 7 months of hatches.Feel like a total newbie to this.And excited

So I called the girl I was supposed to be getting my Barred Rock eggs from and all her birds are in molt so no eggs for me. That leaves me with 16 Silkie eggs (due to hatch next Wednesday), and 41 Serama eggs due to hatch Oct 30th, Nov 2 and Nov 7th.

whoow you have a lot of hatches coming without the BRs ?Maybe its a blessing... it will be better to sell them later early spring anyway or is this a better time of year forppl wanting chicks?.Ii think ppl like EEs b/ c they lay the colored eggs well here anyway.I like the white ones sort of cool white but colored eggs.

OK so from the attack of my children, there were a whole 7 eggs remaining. most of them i found in the brooder embedded in the bedding. They got put back in the coolerbator, which sat cold for I'm guessing at least 4 hrs. granted the room temp back there with the heat bulbs is about 80-85. I'm guessing the eggs are totally smoked after all of that. Anyone think there is a shred of hope for any of the eggs? or should i toss em, sanitize my bator and reset a small test batch to see if I can in fact get a successful hatch out of my cooler-bator? Opinions wanted.

Get ok better than 12!.. not THE best.About 32mpg
Still the trip cost in gas about$30 More than shipping but i HOPE it pays off in a higher hatch!Better!

12....what in the world do you drive.a tank?I always get 4 cyclinders because im cheap so usually fairly good gas milageFAIRLY.....My Focus was better than this ScionXB .I have to have a lot of cargo space though b/c of my xlarge dogs.

Ok into the bator with the eggs Its only been 6 hours but i put them in in the carton as they came will lay them down tomorrow.Candled...One looks clear but the rest i see a yolk i guess it is.Should i see more?Now i wait til day 7 see what happens then

Thats alot better then mine lol. I get less then 400 miles to a tank and it costs me about $120 to fill up. I will bet you will have a much better hatch rate vs shipped eggs

This will be really interesting.If we both get crappy hatches we will know why!haha.If yours do badly i will figure mine will too.Had one broke or leaked when i got them.Have another was leaking yesterday.How are yours.?Oh and 2 were all dark when I got them Might have been one of them that leaked.Someone said the dark ones this early are bad.I have them in a separate bator.Did you candle yours?How were they?

Yeah I candled them and I am pretty disappointed. There are quite a few that look bad, dark blobs and murky. 10 looked bad and the rest clear. I saw NO clear.signs of development. I found one that was clearly rotten, I actually went to crack it open to check it out and it POPPED. Right in my hand. I then proceeded to puke. So I tossed the ten eggs. The blobs are much too big to be an embryo at this stage. I left the clear ones just in case any are viable.

I'm not really blaming the person who sold them, it was prob the PO that I think caused the damage. My box was actually "missent" to the wrong zip code and had an extra day of traveling. I think the eggs were well packed in their little bubble wrap suits. I would try the seller again, they had very reasonable prices.

I will candle again on day 10, if still nothing I'm in for a do-over.

Im not a vehicle person so i just go cheapest vehicle that has enough room and 4 cyclinder.$120whewThink idhave to pick between food and a car...!Creeps me out to see $90 on the gauge from the person before me.I dont know how ppl do it today.Honestly
