Ok my eggs got here today. 18 BBS Orps ...She said she posted them on Thursday.... said they were 1-3 days old....so thats between 5-7 days old at least now PLUS . Fertility wont be as good. Then shipped from NY to Mo ...not good. I candled when they got in ..and found 2 look as if there is a 19 day old baby in there!!! ALL DARK and one is sort of wonky looking so i am setting them in a different bator. in case of an explosion.!! I will set them later today .not leting them sit for 24 hours ...too old now to do that.. The other 15 look ok ithink A few had some pretty big air cells

Thats funny, My bbs eggs came from NY too! How weird! Those dark ones could have broken yolks, they are dead if thats the case. =(

I'm in. After buying eggs from Kelar (Catdance SIlkies) I said that was going to be it until spring. Well now I have 31 Serama eggs in my homemade coolerbator and another 12 were shipped out today. The 31 are resting until tomorrow when they will be placed in my real Incubator: a GQF 1502 older cabinet model. I am getting 24 local Barred Rock eggs on Thursday so that will be a total of 67 eggs (if they all make it okay.) I am beginning to think I am really NUTS!!!!

I just set 18 eggs on the New Moon. My last hatch this year, hoping for another easy winter so we will see.
Due date Nov 4-5.

At least you are raising them for your freezer. I plan on keeping whatever hatches except for the Barred Rocks. Those I am planning on keeping a few of the pullets and selling the rest.

Yeah. Quality of mutts as meat birds vs broilers has got to be better, who knows ill prolly keep some of the mutts for layers. They all came from good laying breeds so we shall see what comes of them.
