Has anyone ever had a duck rip open a chick's neck? Mine did this morning, and thankfully he missed the crop. She seems to be doing okay. But is something that happens a lot or do I just have a bad duck?

This duck was bullied a lot before he came to me.

I really hope the chick makes it. He/she's also not my chick, so my duck really picked the best chick to do this to

That's a new one on he never heard of that in 50 yrs. Are you sure the duck did it or did something else injure her and the duck was eating the food in the crop ? I 'm sorry, I didn't know it was a chick . If the duck is a Muscovy I have seen that they can be a pain .

Yes, I am sure. I saw him pick her/him up by the neck and shake her/him, and then he threw her/him across their pen. The ducks are spending the day outside the pen now.

Well, I called TS, and they still have the chicks. So I'll get more when I go to the vet later. So at least I will be able to replace this one if I have to.
