Sleep is the best thing you can do for yourself. It is essential to life, and without it-well, we'll get to that.
RIGHT NOW.
If you don't get sufficient sleep, you dramatically increase your risk of cancer, heart disease, alzheimer's, dementia and more.
And without any sleep at all?

DEATH. Literally.
There is an extremely rare version of insomnia, fatal familial insomnia, inherited genetically in which you are unable to sleep. It can happen at any point in your life, and you are physically unable to sleep at all. Nothing helps you, no pills, no injections, not even any trial medications. Slowly your body starts to deteriorate, your concentration being the first to go. Reasoning flies out the window, as does memory. You don't know who anybody is. Your mental state rapidly deteriorates, unable to feed, clothe or bathe yourself. You die in a matter of months.

Luckily this version of insomnia has only affected a couple dozen recorded people. However, it has taught us that without sleep, you will die.

Sleep is really underrated honestly. But I think it's worth noting some people like myself have genuine issues sleeping and saying just go sleep isn't really helpful and can get annoying after awhile. Like I have severe insomnia and have taken pills since I was a kid and it does help of course, but sometimes even they don't. Also there's PTSD which results in nightmares for some.. I dunno. Not arguing just giving something to think about.

Just the thought makes them feel praised!
 
Sleep is really underrated honestly. Absolutely. I'm saying, those purposely depriving themselves of sleep in favor of other things-don't. I, obviously, am not an expert, but based off of what I've read, don't roll around in bed waiting for sleep to come. If you can't sleep, do something relaxing and then try again.

And, please, please, I'm not your parent, but PLEASE stay off of screens and away from bright white LED bulbs at least an hour before you turn off the light. Yellowish incandescent bulbs are SO much better for you.

I hear you, I was more just replying to the last line about go sleep now. Thanks for the tips, I already was aware of them as you can imagine having insomnia for years you research everything lol but hopefully it helps somebody else who sees it. It really is a terrible thing to have.

I hear you, I was more just replying to the last line about go sleep now. Thanks for the tips, I already was aware of them as you can imagine having insomnia for years you research everything lol but hopefully it helps somebody else who sees it. It really is a terrible thing to have.
I get it. When I was younger, I had stress-related insomnia, which in turn caused more stress. I've (slightly) gotten over it, but I still sometimes have panic attacks when it takes me too long to get to sleep. Insomnia is horrible, and I wish there was something, SOMETHING that would help insomniacs. Unfortunately, sleep is just something that we can't recreate. (YET!!)
