Well I mean I don’t know if it’s 100% the reason but I think it definitely contributed cause they made him look really cool there. But I think social media probably contributed more from what you’re saying (I’m not on TikTok) and all the Mals I see on Instagram nowadays. Seems like every dog person has a Border Collie and/or a Malinois hahah

And I mean, everyone has to start somewhere I guess and I’m glad more young people are getting into the dog world but Mals are definitely NOT beginner dogs 😭😭😭 at least they’re working them at something though? I’ve seen people not do anything with them and just expect them to be perfect calm house pets 😬😬😬

I think I found their insta and it looks like they also do flyball and dock diving with the dog? So at least they’re doing something other than just tricks with the dog though and seem dedicated, that’s good. I’ve seen a lot of people so far far less with their dogs. Still not sure a kid should have a Mal but gotta start somewhere I guess and it appears to be a cross too so maybe more chill.

What all do you have to do to become an "official BYC greeter" ?
Someone has to nominate you for the badge.

There are only like 50 people or something that have it, and like a bajillion greeters, but that’s cause I feel like most people nominate for the friend badge and the greeter just gets pushed to the side.

But I enjoy greeting people because I love meeting and getting to know about people and their flocks. 🥰

That sounds like a perfect size! I’m thinking I wanna stay between like 30 and 50 or maybe 60 pounds ish. Not too huge but not tiny either haha but then again my brothers dogs are all around 65 to 75 ish and they’re a good size too and don’t seem that big to me so I don’t know.

And oh yeah, I definitely always try to use positive reinforcement as much as possible and loveeeee training and working with dogs (actually want to be a trainer haha) as well as hiking, etc. plus we have a large yard so dog would definitely be worked with tons and exercised. 🥰❤️

I want to possibly to a sport like nose work too. I heard Brittanys sometimes get distracted too easily for agility 😂 but hear they have excellent noses so nosework or tracking or something like that seems fun. 🥰
They seem a little bigger than the stated weight. I think because they are not really a short dog but if in shape are lean with all muscle. And, some females can be up to 35lbs. and still be in shape.

They can get distracted especially when still real young. I think they would do well at agility but of course not as well as some other breeds. Nose work is their forte so that is excellent! They are bird dogs and quail hunting is their specialty.

Hiking? They love that! They are ready to go! Always want to go somewhere and the woods is their favorite place. After a good days work and fun then their go to place is with you in the house close to you and family if allowed.

My Liberty actually got stolen from me and was gone for 2 years until she came home all dirty and nasty with so many ticks it was hard to believe. I knew inside she was still alive and if she was that she would get home if she and she did 2 years later. Looked like she had been through it. I have no hard prove that she was stolen but she had to be. She was just gone and I felt it my heart (as silly as that may sound) that she was alive. I do not know what she went through to get back but she did. I know that sounds like a movie, but it is true. Her health was never like it was before. She got heart worms while gone and had to go through treatment for that which is really expensive and really hard on them. But, she still lived to be 13 1/2 years which included another 6 years after she found her way home. I have consider getting another since she passed but have not.

Anyway, it sounds like you will do great with one or whatever breed you decide on! It is a big commitment unless you are like some people that can just get a dog and then when they tire of it just get rid of them. I cannot do that. If I get one they are with me until they pass on. They are family.

And, I am sure you know there is competition in Field Trials with quail. And, money to be made if that motivates you. Brittanys are the "go to" dog for this. Mine came from a championship blood line in competition, though I never had her in competition or used her for hunting. Well, I did work with her some on quail but not for me to shoot them and not in competition. It was just something for us to do together that she loved.
