Ah, June Bugs! Whose arrival is heralded by the sudden, jump-inducing, startling "TWONG" as they slam headlong into the window screen after dark.
Those things are huge.

I have a June Bug.
She likes to slam into windows.
Never after dark, though,

Notice the strange thing on her beard. What is it? A hair? Cronchy feathers? A blade of grass? A wire?
We still don’t know to this day.

The smell lingers, too -- it's awful if you accidentally squish one and it gets stuck to your sock and you don't notice it for several minutes while you're pacing around the room, trying to figure out where the heck the thing died.

I pick them up all the time.
I never get squirted.
I’m always mega-gentle transporting it outside. When I first started doing it, everyone would stop dead in the tracks, deep in the process of pulling out a spatula, a jar, and hazmat suits, and stare at me. Finally someone would whisper “Reid that’s a stink bug” and I’d irritably go “I know.” And then someone would be like “But it’s gonna stink you!” and I’ll go and set it on a leaf outside and say “Smell my fingers’’.
If you move slowly and carefully, they don’t stink you.

Yeah, I like to just leave them alone -- everyone does in this house, I think.
Still some casualties, though... the little things are so mellow and slow most of the time.
