Huh! Good to know. I'd have thought the good bacteria would help fight off the imbalance in the crop, kinda like Kombucha with a sour stomach in a human.

We get so attached to our chickens. It is so exhausting caring for them. Try to get some rest. I know it isn’t easy. There should be threads on this topic in this blog. Sounds like your doing the right things.Hello i bought some Silkies at a Rural King store. I've had them 3 wks. One week ago 2day i noticed one was having crop issues. Researched done the vet. Gave everyone an antibiotic in their water. No luck. I started massaging her crop 3 days after i noticed a bulge in her crop tht seemed 2 be getting bigger and her head was jerking. Today is day 7 and I realized when i finally got her crop empty for once while rubbing in the upward motion. I felt a little rock or hard piece of food.. Will her impacted crop eventually pass the object??? I have slept with her all week so when her head would start jerking i cld massage her crop 2 help her.. Poor little thing has lots of energy, eats and drinks really good and does her pecking around with the others.. What can i do 2 help her? She seems normall until her little head starts jerking. 7 days now and I'm exhausted trying 2 help her.. I'm already attached. I love her. Please help..
Yes, indeed. Sometimes we overlook the necessity of delivering emotional support in the form of this sort of kind comment. We get so attached to our chickens. It is so exhausting caring for them. Hi we slept 7 straight hours. Her crop was squishy when i chckd. I just finished trying 2 get everything in her. The biggest issue is getting her 2 drink.. Shes mostly sleeping. Is tht normal? But she isn't happy unless I'm holding her. So How often shld i offer the yogurt and water? How is Baby today?

I didnt think 2 chck. I dont feel it and I've also noticed tht her head isn't jerking. Yay!! Her poop was loose but i considered tht normal with wht shes been given. Ok i will do everything u suggestSquishy is good! Could you still feel that little hard lump inside?
Offer water frequently and maybe before the other things ( medication and yogurt), she's probably just full after all the other crap
I would offer yogurt several times throughout the day or anytime she seems alert and awake. I'm sure the sleeping is normal; firstly that's probably the first night she's had where she didn't feel the urge to adjust her crop and secondly her body is fighting a fungus actively now, her little immune system is kicking in to help!
You're doing great! We'll get you both some rest on the regular soon!![]()
She has gotten better as the day has went by. She's slept a lot and we even took 2 napsYeah, no grain or greens= soft/runny poop!
Hang in there!
