Compacted crop. 7 days now :(

:bow La Donna I just have to say that you are doing some excellent chickening! I've sat up with sick ones too and know how exhausting it gets. You are doing the best job! And if I'm having problems in the future, I'm sending @Henriettamom919 a ferry ticket to come and sort it out!
Thank u and yes shes been awesome helping me get Baby better
She's so spoiled I can't sit her down even for one minute. She cries the whole time. So I've been doing everything one handed for the last couple days. I'll have to teach her to sit on my shoulder ❤

Y'all are too sweet! I'm learning as I go, same as everyone but I've been caring for animals my whole life :love

LaDonna, I'm not going to lie- getting that little chick back into her normal routine and environment will be tough on you- much tougher than it will be on her! We'll cross that bridge when we get to it! :hugs

The most important rule when treating sour crop is to refrain from carbs. Sugars feed yeast so you want to limit Baby's diet for this week to protein such as chick crumbles, boiled egg, and baby meats. And yogurt. Just offer her a bit of this and a bit of that and see how it goes. She'll choose what seems to be best for her as long as you stay away from carbs.

The last 2 times tht shes had yogurt her crop has swelled up. The 2nd time it was huge . i massaged both times. I also got the miconazole in her. I got het sleeping at the moment. Do I just keep doing what I'm doing?

Okay but what do you mean by chick crumbles and baby Meats? I have an egg to get me started

Chick crumbles as in her baby chick chicken feed. Baby meat as in pureed meat or jarred baby food. Now that she's had a full two doses of medication you can start introducing high protein foods like those @azygous mentioned. You just wanted to avoid heavy solid food initially to give her crop a chance to empty last night/early this morning.

So, current "good food" list:

Scrambled egg
Chick starter feed
Baby meat
Plain yogurt.

You want to avoid sugar like that found in human bread, fruits and veggies, corn or scratch treat, etc.

Chick starter or all flock feed, dry, good source of protein. Canned strained baby food you buy in the store. You can also feed Baby the strained baby veggies or cook up some carrots and blend them with the yogurt. I keep several jars of baby food on the shelf for when I have a sick chicken. They are easy to tube feed.
