Competition Dogs Thread

Yeah that’s what I thought
I think that you’re in novice senior for juniors, though, which will be a PITA because there’s never any competition
Most of the competition is coming from people aging out of open intermediate, so they get out really quick
None of this is English to me sorry LOL

Here is a thread for all those who compete with their dogs! Any sort of titling counts.
I'll go first.
I am training my golden retriever, Finn (AKC Pond's Fast Fish TKN), for Rally and Scentwork (maybe some obedience down the road), and then also 'pet' titles in the Canine Good Citizen and trick dog program. He currently has his Trick Dog Novice (TKN) title and we're working on his TKI (Trick Dog Intermediate), competitive heeling, and scent work training.

Here is Finn doing 'sit pretty' which is one of our tricks for his TKI.

I also show dogs in conformation shows (Finn is nowhere near show quality, so not for him). I currently show a corgi named Birki (AKC Reinwood Pause for a Breeze) in breed competition and junior showmanship. Here is da boi:

This is him at our first show. We got second place in a class of 5 open dogs. Not too bad!

I'm super excited that I got asked to show one of my favorite breeds, the clumber spaniel. I'll be showing a clumber spaniel girl in (I believe) 12-18 month bitches. She loves showing so much and I think (with my knowledge of the clumber standard) that she's pretty good.

I'd love to hear about anyone else's competition dogs!

My BFF wants a Clumber Spaniel SO BADLY! Where did you get her? We ran across a pair at a dog auction where we were part of a rescue team to get our breed out of a puppy mill. That pair I helped get to Clumber Rescue, but my friend has never gotten them out of her mind. We've both had Leonbergers for 20+ years.

We have a huge pack of rescue dogs right now, most were dumped on me because they were unadoptable. But all are above 8 years right now, and we are waiting for a few more to pass away before getting more dogs. For 21 years I've always had a few Leonbergers. All passed their Canine Good Citizenship and the last 3 got therapy certification to go into nursing homes and hospitals. This thread and Facebook Leonberger groups are making me get dog fever LOL Am I the only one with a doggy breed bucket list? I want and English Shepherd or short haired Border Collie to do agility with. I want Leonbergers for cart pulling, therapy work, and obedience. And I want a Pyrenean Mastiff for guarding the farm and family, but as an inside dog. Also considering a Spanish Mastiff. We had a Pyrenean Mastiff and he died at 13.5 years old last summer. I miss him every day. He was the only dog I've ever met, and I worked for vets for 8 years, who would actually die protecting his family. I never understood having a guard dog till we had him, and boy do I miss him!

I don’t own her, I’m just showing her. I do adore clumbers, though! I’d like to own one when I’m old enough for my own dog. The best place to get a clumber is from a reputable breeder. Rainsway Clumbers is one of my favorites. They’re located in Washington, I believe, but are willing to fly pups all over the country.

I also have a dog bucket list! I want a toller to do agility, a boxer, giant schnauzer, or well bred golden to do competitive obedience, and a clumber to do rally and scent work (all would hopefully be able to compete in conformation as well). I’ll likely get a clumber or golden in the future, though.

I’ve been feeling kind of unproductive with him lately so I’m wondering if I should focus my efforts entirely on one title at a time.
