Dont give them my name...

Man I love my bank. When I go in every one knows my name they say hello ask how the dogs are (they go to the drive in some times). Can't beat that small town banking.

they know my name and my dogs' names... and even if they are not with us, they send doggie biscuits home with us for them. Now, I do not think the 'BANK" cares too awful much, because we never have anything in it, but the softies at the window can not pass up a fuzzy face who confuse the bank with any other drive up window. We have good people here, now the rest of the automated part of the business, phapppt,

Your letter is amusing, and I think you'd do better if you had overdrafft protection, (if money is tight at the end of the month).

But do you honestly think that every time a check that is being fed through a machine scanner, somewhere far away from your local branch, comes up as insufficient funds, that the bank has a meeting to discuss whether or not they should float you for a while?

If you don't like your bank that much, find another one or get overdraft protection.

I know you're just ranting, but if you were a bank teller, you'd have different stories to tell.

Actually my bank does do exactly that. They are a locally owned bank (not credit union) and they do get a list every morning of items that have presented for ISF and then decide how they are going to handle them.

My daughter on the other hand banked with US BANK for awhile when she was 16. They held her check for up to 7 days at a time and then even though the payroll check was in the bank first, they held it and then charged her $90 in overdraft fees with what started off as going 13 CENTS into the payroll check that was being held.

I was able to get all the money refunded and she switched to a credit union after that.

Some banks are still personal.

My friend's bank gets all actions made to the bank each day and enters withdrawals first - then deposits regardless of how they came in!! Funny how that frequently seems to work out to cause overdraft charges.

Even if you have overdraft protection, they pay the check but charge you for the "protection" service.

Forget this penny-ante complaint stuff, join the move your money movement and the show me the note movement. The big banks LOST in court in Massachusetts. This is a HUGE loss for them but people better press it now while it is still open. I am sure they will get this loop hole closed here shortly!!

We banked at US Bank and still do, but did our business banking through a more local bank. No doubt, if we had ever bounced a check, they probably would have called us. At US Bank, we know one of the tellers after years of business and she takes great care of us if we have a need for something over and above.

I remember when I first got a checkbook, 1978 give or take, and the lessons were learned quickly. If you don't have the money... don't write the check.

I worked with a guy once who came into work one day complaining about his bank charging him for "all these bounced checks". I asked him, "Carl, don't you balance your checkbook?' He told me he did, but the bank had, "... cashed a whole bunch of them at the same time..."Pete
