I am stumped. I have a coal black hen that over the past two weeks has begun sprouting white feathers all over! She is mottled with white feathers. It is so strange. Anyone have any idea why that would be? I was going to upload a picture of her, but can't seem to figure out how to do it with the new site. Any thoughts??

Mottled or spangled birds develop more white markings when they molt. how old is your hen? Has she recently molted? What breed?

It has happened before that black or black copper hens molt out to be a black and white color, but, the question is - Is she actually mottled (black feathers with white tips) or is she just black and white? (white feathers are solid white or white at base, not tip)

Somewhere between 2 and 5. OEGH or Phoenix, perhaps.
