Complications...

My mallards hatched out yesterday, and my teacher whom helped me, bought medicated starter grow... Is this really going to kill the ducks?

Im sorry i dont really know...i bought that kind for my 7 week old golden comet pullets...who said it would kill em? i thought it was supposu to help?

Well, I've read on various sites that, because ducks eat more than chicks, the medication can poison them, inadvertently killing them, so i was just wondering. I don't want to lose the little buggers.

Depends on what it's medicated with. If it's allopurium (sp) for cocci then you should be ok. If it's an antibiotic I would get a non-medicated starter asap. It's just because ducks eat so much compared to chicks that they can easily overdose on a medicated starter.
