Compost for Chickens

Yes it is , I get my scraps from shoprites produce manager, I called my local shop rite and talked to the produce manager and asked if I can take any scraps they had to throw out and he said yes

The one "challenge" will be to keep them in the right amount of protein. They won't get that from veggie scraps alone. Bugs and other creepy crawlies in the compost pile will provide some, but I'd look for a source of food scraps that includes some meat.

those huge bags of koi food for pond feeding is cheap and about 30% protein... but i guess that defeats the purpose of not feeding pellets

I won’t be using any grain , I’m using a bag of dry crickets that has 55% protein alone and will be mixed in with compost , they will get everything they need from the compost

here’s a video on the info I gained :

That’ll solve the protein issue...so, yes, they’ll eat “just compost”, even though you’re adding something to it that wouldn’t usually be there.

Where do you get bags of crickets? And whatdo they cost? Never seen them so curious!
