Hi there,

This may have a very obvious answer, but I use compost toilets with peat moss and dump them into compost holes when the toilets get full. Bugs love these piles, chickens love bugs. Could I allow my chickens to graze the compost toilet/vegetable scrap piles for buggers, or will they most likely get sick or diseases from possible pathogens in the human compost? Thank you!

I would not want my chickens exposed to the pile for at least 6 months. Lots of bad pathogens in human waste. I personally would wait 2 yrs to put it on any trees for fertilizer. If baked in the sun at very high temps I have heard of composting human waste in 3 months. But putting chickens into that system does not sound prudent to me.

This is merely an opinion from me based on limited knowledge of microbes.

Wish ya the best.
