Crap cleaner is another good program to have. It basically cleans up all the garbage and cookies that take up space on your computer. I run it every week at least once. It usually cleans up quite a bit of space too!

I forgot but www.majorgeeks.com has all sorts of freeware+ shareware and it has a rating system and flash tutorials and sorts of other neato stuff to get your computer gooter!

Footnote: Every once in a while people equate spam, popups, alerts, etc. with this forum.... every time it has had to do with other applications and not this site.

Fortunately with thousands of people visiting this site and forum, if there was a problem on our side we'd probably hear about it pretty quick. With this said, we take these things very seriously, so if we see a consistent problem (usually more than one person) we know it may not be an isolated incident and investigate it thoroughly.

the software to deal with viruses do not deal with adware...
For adware (in addition to the suggestions for spybot and adaware) I have found that the free NORTON anti-spy that is available to download with the YAHOO Toolbar (you have to first download the toolbar and the NORTON is an option which you have to download afterwards) is GREAT and super simple to use as it gets the cookies which is such a problem with the adware ... works great with any security system ...superfast.... and I found it faster to use than the adaware for getting rid of junk while you are in the middle surfing the web .

Wow, this info should help out alot! I'm printing these pages to show DH. I think it's my computer alone that has a problem. I do have internet explorer, I think I'm switching. Thank you for the info!

I'd have to second getting Mozilla Firefox and Spybot Search & Destroy. They both work pretty well. I'd also recommend getting Kaspersky Internet Security. It's about $70, but it's worth it. It'll really help keep all of the junk off of your box...no matter where you surf.

Microsoft also has Windows Defender you can download for free.
