Hi, My chicks are just over 3 weeks old. I ordered 4 golden buff pullets, 4 australorp pullets, and 25 white male broilers. Upon arrival we couldnt tell the white broilers and golden buff apart. But obviously the broilers grew much faster and at 10 days we separated them. These "girls" are feathering out but I am concerned the hatchery (a very reputable one) sent me 1. either golden buff boys, or 2. another breed of pullets, or or 3. another breed and boys!

All the pics I can see online show that others golden buffs, red stars, comets whatever all feather in with more golden/red feathers than mine. The 4 I have all look the same, feathers are cream but definitely not golden just have a few specs of golden on random feathers. Can anyone help calm my nerves. Hate to think this hatchery messed my order up and cant sort supposedly the easiest breed to sort. I have contacted them they confirmed 4 golden buffs ordered and sent. They say wait until 10 weeks to report wrong breed or wrong sex. Kinda frustrated to be in this position.

Thanks for the help. I've been spying this site for a while, good information here.

The Golden Buff is just some hatcheries fancy name for a red sex link, of course. The white males are obvious which is the nature of a sex link and the purpose of making sex links. The pullets are golden/red colored with just a smattering of white feathers, mainly toward the tail.

Here's some.

As you can see, it is very obvious that the white male (complete with red comb and wattles) in the center is surrounded by pullets. Sorry if your hatchery has that 10 week rule, but it is what it is.
