Concerned..Muscovy ducks on Mirror lake on OSU campus

I have done some with TNR(with cats) and have learned my mouth is not my friend so I will try to breathe/think while getting thru this. And I THINK my son and I can handle the actual capture of the 6 muscovy/1 pekin.Am seriously not a people person and don't know how to ask for help(this is part of the problem here) so I have an email into the police and am trying to find a number to call tomorrow and will also try to find whomever manages Mirror Lake. OSU website didn't offer much about Mirror Lake other than mentioning the kids that jump in it every year for tradition(seriously gross water).OOOO-Miss Lydia-just realized what you were referring to-its on this forum!!thanks!
oh sorry I should have said that. Well we're pulling for you both to be able to help these ducks,

an all flock or flock raiser feed would be a good option for offering to them (pekin and muscovy both). Here in FL they are looked at like pests, but are a very quiet easy tokeep breed if you go that route.

Good luck catching them! Keep us posted on what happens. I'm hoping it all works out for the best for both you and the ducks.

OK-OSU police(non emergency of course!) basically hung up on me and its long distance to call ohio wildlife so I have to try to get thru to them via email again and have a callo into capital area humane society on abandonment line(and i can only guess they will also ignore my pleas) so may call channel 6 on your side sooner than thought cause i am mad.

Why are you calling these folks? for permission to rescue or for help?

Muscovy don't need humans to exist. I'm not opposed to you capturing them but really they will be fine on their own.

Two weeks ago I thought my ducks were taking off on me. Wild Muscovies were in my pond!

From what I read they are bred domestically/sold in the northern states with freezing winters and don't have the same food requirements as the wild Muscovy. It is becoming along the lines of people thinking feral cats don't need help(which is untrue) and am finding alot of people here also think they need left alone but these are domestic bred and if being kept in this public pond they need domestic food thru cold weather to survive comfortably(not being able to fly away doesn't help them)..I have a call in to OSU presidents office to get permission (spoke to actual human)and have called ohio wildlife division and they agree these ducks need removed. The pond they are in is small/filthy because of so many ducks living there and given each duck poops out 1/3 lb a day it can be a problem for people/ducks. They need more than the junk food they are getting and can't fly away to try to find proper food so I am going to persist. I don't mind if their numbers were controlled(the domestic Muscovys) and they were fed correctly thru winter but I know from experience with this pond the domestic ducks don't last too long. I worked at OSU for 30 yrs. and watched the domestic ducks suffer for the whole 30 yrs and am saddened by the ignorance that is causing the domestic ducks to suffer painfully/suffer early deaths. Son just called me and said there is a puffy headed Pekin(Crested???) walking around that he has never seen on his daily venture to Mirror lake. ONCE AGAIN these are domestic and need winter care to survive comfortably. Mt goodness-the stress increases. My son has asked if he should turn his head and not pay attention/tell me and I refuse to do that for more decades of ouchy/dead ducks.(and I at LEAST want the Pekins removed if NOT the possibly OK Muscovies-one with injured wing possibly removed)
