So my ducklings are in their brooder on our back lanai. I have a temp gage in their brooder. I also have a ecoglow for their heat source. It’s a pretty warm day out today. When I go outside the ducklings look like they’re panting from being hot. They’re breathing with their mouths open. I have fresh water in their brooder as well. I also have a fan circulating above them to elk with the humidity. Is it normal for them to be panting like that? They seem to still be going under their ecoglow as well.

Welcome to BYC!!🎉 can I ask what age your ducklings are, and if you have a thermometer in the brooding area? I’m not familiar with the equipment you mentioned, but as ducklings age they like less heat.

I have 3 that are about a week and a half and one that just turned a week. Yes I have a thermometer and it’s reading 80 degrees

If the set up is your profile pic? I give my ducks about twice the space, but it really looks well taken care of!
The ducklings I have had, did not pant with their bills open, but they loved to splash in their water😝
if you could just increase the size of the space they have, you should see more comfortable ducks. Please post back either way.
