This is my first time raising chickens and I would REALLY appreciate any advice on this. My hen has a very large crop. I looked into sour crop and impacted crop and I don't think her crop is impacted. I'm not sure if she has a sour crop though. It's large and squishy. The last few nights when I've massaged it I could hear air coming out of her beak and gurgling. She acts normal. She eats, drinks, plays, poops (as far as I know), and is extremely interested in treats. This has been going on for weeks but tonight was the first time I smelled anything bad coming from her beak when I massaged her crop. Please let me know what you guys think and thank you in advance.

So I posted this separately (still figuring out how to use this website) but I decided to treat my hen for sour crop. Is there an egg withdrawal period if I treat her with miconazole?

Are you checking her crop first thing in the morning before she's had anything to eat/drink?
The crop is still full in the mornings right?

I'd treat her for Sour crop if there's a bad odor. Don't massage a yeasty crop. Treat with miconazole and see that she's drinking and eating. A crop may be partially blocked as well, so it won't hurt to give the coconut oil as well.

Here's your other thread with answers to your question about the miconazole.

Hi!
I went ahead and treated her with miconazole. She seems to be doing good. Haven't had anymore air or nasty smell from her beak.
