I have about 20 Texas A&M's and I am trying separate the males from the females. I sat there forever waiting for them to do their call and then I'd grab them. So once I thought I had them all I was watching the ones left in the cage and I saw one grabbing the necks of some of the others. I think it looks like they are trying to mate but I've never seen this before. The one grabbing the others wasn't doing it's call but I'm sure that it had to be male. It wouldn't be fighting, right?

So now I picked my favorite of the roos to put back in and I put leg band on them but now they aren't calling anymore and I'm not for sure that they are absolutely males. So I tried the vent thing and I do get foam. So will they stop calling so much when they don't have as many males around to compete with? I'm just worried I'm going to get rid of my extra roos and find out that I don't have enough left. I don't know, this is all so confusing!

Yes roos that are happy with hens dont feel the need to crow as much. They still will crow but barely. Foam and crowing you got roos grabbing the necks you got roos. YOu're doing it all perfeclty right!
