Confused.......how can you afford to feed your chickens

Quote:
In 2008 crude oil was like 150 usd/bbl and today it's maybe 90 and yet corn and soybeans are higher now than they were then. It's increased demand and decreased supply. Speculative investment in commodities and Gov't support for ethanol and biodiesel support higher corn and bean prices but crude oil is out of the picture.

these dipped in water. The Silkie hen is the only one who leaps into the garden to pick these off. The others dutifully follow me and my bowl of water around, once I tip a bunch into the bowl it's like FEAST! FEAST! I guess they're just too lazy to pick them theirselves if they see me around. Or maybe they just have me trained.............. and they're giggling....

Is there any way to harvest these from neighbors? We ran out with only 6 chickens. I imagine you're more than a suburban backyard.

Mine also ate every last spider.

I used to keep those, because they're females like me. Otherwise it was just me and all this maleness, even the cat was a guy, "Spike". Now I have some girly hens, but they ate every last spider and every possible place a spider might hide out is picked clean.

So what conventional food is made of oil by-products?

Conventional fertilizer is made from petrolium by products, you are what you eat so if corn eats petrolium based ferts and pesticides......then.....Also Monsantos round up ready corn is actually classified AS A PESTICIDE ITSELF!

there is a ton of imformation on this out there if you care, if not cheers! enjoy.

yumm, yumm. But how many millions of people do we need to kill in the name of terror to keep your layena affordable?

theres alot of reasons the food is getting harder to buy/pricier....mainly the cause is a great collusion of every industry on earth...monsanto is only one tentacle of a thousand armed, slobbering, greedy beast.....

also I am 100% positive its dirty arm extends even into this board, and other farming and gardening blogs and forums...They wont seem like a rogue weirdo...... but as funny, interactive, "respected" members probably with lots of posts and fun stories and very "helpful"......something to think about...people are paid big bucks to mess with your opinions and thoughts in every form of media. Just lettin you know, its my human duty...
