I bought three chicks at the local feed store on 4/20/07. Two black sex links and one California white (ideal 236). I'm almost sure one of the links is a ROO! I know its still early but the tail feathers, colors, and size compared to the other two make me think the one in question is a roo. My landlord and neighbors would not like the sound of a crowing rooster every morning and or night, they have said as much.(everyone around here thought you needed a roo to get eggs when I got my first batch 2 years ago). Anyway the question is: is it humane or even possible to get a roo's voice box removed? Or does a castrated roo not make as much noise? This is first time this has happened to me. I can get a pic to confirm tomorrow (battery dead). I just really like this little bird and would hate to get rid of it. And I'm not sure if its right to do that just to keep the little guy around. Please help!!!!!
