congested breathing

Fungal respiratory infections, such as aspergillosis don't cause noisy breathing (rales or wheezing,) but will cause silent gasping and an increased thirst. Now, chickens can have aspergillosis, but also be complicated by other respiratory infections such as infectious bronchitis, mycoplasma (MG,) coryza, or ILT, which can cause those rattles and wheezes. The more symptoms you can describe, the easier it is to narrow down. Here is a good link to read about the different diseases and their symptoms to compare with what you are seeing:
