I noticed Echinacea on your list. Just wanted to add that MY chickens stripped ALL the leaves off mine. Like the old saying I guess, One man's (or chicken's) trash is another's treasure! My chickens have been scratching up a storm in my garden. Most of the plants are very well established so I'm not too worried, but it's just about time to re-mulch. THAT oughta be interesting!
On another gardening note, I was thinking about planting some whiskey barrels to put in the run with greens and stuff for them to eat when they're penned up. I was going to put wire over the top to keep them from eating the plants down too far. Any suggestions for stuff they would really like that grows fast enough to not be destroyed?

Thanks, I'll keep an eye on the Echinaciea. Just because it's done well so far doesn't mean it won't be destroyed this year.
I might try the poultry pasture mix in the barrels. if you protect it as you described it should keep coming back. Let me know how it works!
