Has anyone ever gotten chicks from tractor supply? How did they turn out? I have a tractor supply nearby and was wondering if they would be any good for a first time chicken owner? Thanks!!!

Farmhouse..you should be fine with TSC chickens. Just double check them for pasty butt before picking them out. Also, make sure the babies have been taken care of in the store with adequate food, water and heat so that they have gotten off to the right start.

A lot of us on this messageboard show our birds at 4H and other poultry fairs so we are more concerned with our birds reaching the standard of perfection for the breed. The TSC birds should do just fine if all you are wanting are some good egg layers.

One young lady was very knowledgeable about the breeds and helped me choose the brahmas in addition to the BR's-- I had wanted EEs but they were straight run and we promised the neighbors no roosters!

Didn't know they allowed chickens to dine at Cosi!

I may go. I'm probably working that Saturday and I work in Stamford not far from that Cosi. Could work out to meet up after. Yay.
