If anyone with a truck is looking for a little hutch to rehab into a banty coop.. it is at 639 Grassy Hill Road in Orange. It looks like it will need a new poop board and the legs reinforced. Maybe a paint job, too.

And if anyone with a truck wants to bring it to my house....

If my farm truck didn't blow a $3000 dollar engine pump and my car has an exhaust falling off I would go

Out of curiosity is that a farmstand there that has it out front? If so I might know who it is and he lives in Ansonia maybe I can convince him to bring It to you!!

Luke13:34 :

No.. no farmstand out front. Oh, well. It was not meant to be.

Oh ok. If it was the farmstand spot that is my farmer friend Joey and he would have brought it to you if it was his I'm sure

I know some people who have seen mountain lions, and they've reported them to the DEP - who insist that there are NO mountain lions in CT. I have heard the same thing from several people - that they are told that's not what they saw, they saw a bobcat or a coyote or something else.

Hey, Chicken Boy Sam... did your goat give birth yet?

OK.. don't have a picture, but a story to tell.

This little banty bird is getting greedy! So, I purchased a bantam wyandotte from Beth G two weeks ago. The day the auction ends, the silly thing goes broody. Beth was kind enough to send "Betty" home with eggs under her and I made up a partitioned area of the run with a private cage for Betty to sit and brood in. Well, apparently she had stolen a few eggs from some other hens while still at Beth's because two hatched out early on Thursday. Those two are in the brooder box so that Betty will keep sitting on the other eggs.

Today I went out to let my girls into the yard to forage for a while.. I counted 1...2...3...4....5...6...7...ok.. all of them are out of the gate.

WAIT.... there is a bird sitting in the nesting box in the coop! What? 1,2,3...4..5,6....7! They are all out... It was BETTY! Little stinker heard all the other girls singing the egg song all morning long and decided to squeeze under the hardware cloth meant to seperate her from the big girls, just strutted on over to the coop and plopped herself on top of the six many-colored, large fowl eggs. If the other girls noticed, they just let her do it.

I barely had the heart to tell her those eggs would never produce babies. She was none to thrilled to be taken off her new egg mountain.

Hopefully she wasn't away from her own eggs long enough for them to cool down too much...

Omg, I totally see it now! Told you she liked to steal eggs
