Connecticut!

Everyone here is fine, we only had some small branches come down. We still have power, my family in Coventry and Putnam are without power. My sister's inlaws lost their house in Vermont to flooding after it was down graded to a tropical storm, but no one was there thankfully.
I hope everyone on here stayed safe, please update.

We're all safe here. God must love goats, because 3 huge ones fell across their pen and not one scratch on the barn. We were without power for 40 hours but no flooding and we were prepared for 3-5 days. So happy not to be using a pit latrine, I CANNOT tell you.

Both of the coops I made rode out the storm undamaged & dry inside.

We have 5 huge trees down ("huge" = more than 2 feet in diameter or more than 80 feet tall or both) and lots of smaller trees as well. Seeing those monster trees fall and not harm anyone, all I can do is be grateful. And I really, really am.

We drove home JUST ahead of Irene from North Carolina to get home in time to bring the girls into the garage and drain the pool some so it wouldn'tn overflow-at midnight Saturday we'd already had enough rain that it was up to the top so spent 1/2 hour in the downpour to drain it...lost power 5am Sunday so then had to use hoses to drain itnmore as it was full again! But everyone was safe:) The girls were happy to be back outside yesterday and no damage to their tractor, a few trees down but no damage other than to the old fence. Spent yesterday cleaning the yad, cuttiing up felled trees, etc. This morning I have a sore back and I'm ready to get electricity and internet back there's only so much our small generator can do but sure glad to have it. Bethel may be out of power for up to a week per CL&P, sure hope that's not the case!
Hope everyone made it safe through the storm and is recovering well; I know I have a new found appreciation for electricity!

Good morning!
Our clock still says 5:45

our house *may* get electricity today, but I'm doubting it.
We live in a neighborhood with mature trees, and alot of them came down across wires.
Our whole neighborhood is out, except for our garage which has a separate line (and 200 amps).

Got garage power last night and am running an extension.
No clean up in our yard except for leaves, yay! I was really worried about our trees, we had one down last storm.
Our coop stayed together but didn't stay dry, sprung 2 leaks in the ceiling

so now we plan to cover it with new roofing material.
Our girls were safe under the Ibeam of our garage. I was happy to realize that there are spaces in our wire dog cage for a 4" flat side of wood.
In the garage in the wire dog cage... with a supply of water, a new bag of dry litter and some dry pellets in tupperware:

Yep, that's the baby monitor - we had it going all night until we lost power @ 5:45a.m.
We put them out the very next morning after drying the coop. I bought 2 bags of wood chips, and gathered bamboo leaves before the storm just in case the run area flooded. Nice to have the chips ready to use! It didn't flood, it was just soaked.
The nice thing about a hurricane is that it isn't freezing outside and we would have had to gather firewood too. It was SO nice & warm.
yay for us getting thru Hurricane Irene 2011

we drove around a little yesterday, other houses were definitely not so lucky -my ♥ goes out to them.

Looks like most of our area still is with out power, so we are lucky. Trees still blocking allot of roads, so it's still hard to go check on people. The CLP trucks are out in force today in our area though (the cynical side of me says it's because the governor is coming here today for a photo op).
