thanks for replying to our post:

We are looking to add 4 more of any of these types of pullets to our current flock: Wyandotte, Araucana, Orpington, Austrolop and any hen that lays white eggs. We are hoping to get these hens from the same person and hoping that they are around 5-7 months old. Can anyone help us? Thanks!"

We are in Bristol, do you have any of the pullets we are looking for?

Bristol is pretty centrally located, you should be able to find someone with those breeds, although it's been my experience that it's a little harder this time of year than the Spring when everyone has hatching fever. Ambler farm often has adolescent chickens that need to be re-homed (after the kids programs are done) this time of year. http://www.amblerfarm.org/

Boston Poultry Expo is Nov. 3 and I hear it's a good place to find birds.

Thanks! I am still working at cutting back the spider infested forsythia around the coop(s) so haven't managed to measure yet. But my guess is they are about 3' wide by 3' deep. Pretty small... I think they could house 2 hens for now and I'd add to the flock in the spring with a new coop.

I ended up with an awful bout of poison ivy that left me the proud owner of an epi-pen shortly after my first post so I haven't gotten very far on this journey...

I hope that some of you can make a few of the upcoming poultry shows this fall. You don't need to show just come on up and check out all the nice Show Quality stock and if you are looking to add some new kids there will be plenty to choose from!!

I was wondering where the New England Bantam Show is. I couldn't find anything on line. And is Little Rhody a good one? Is it worth the drive?

Sorry to hear that. You need to get Tecnu so that doesn't happen again.

Yes I agree, Tecnu is the best for preventing poison ivy! Good luck with your project.

Happy Autumn everyone! I hope CT gets good color this fall, I'm looking forward to a Sleeping Giant hike and a beautiful indian summer.

I have a wonderful broody who hatched 2 barred rock eggs on Labor Day (3wks young today). She is a wonderful momma & raising them well. I *think* one is a boy (they might both be)... Would anyone be interested in the little boy? They are handled daily by my 4yr old = very tame. Love him, eat him ~ whatever suits the situation, he surely will be tasty & has a fine personality too. Free to a byc member after he finishes feathering in a week or two ~and I can meet you 1/2 way of the distance, I'm in New Haven. Send me a pm (private message).

I hope we get good color this year. We've sort of been ripped off the last couple of years.
