I hope you all are okay out there in the other parts of CT. We are fortunate that we didn't lose power but, they still as of 4:30pm have not plowed my road and I live on a state road!!

Beth I love how the "kids" are all doing the one-legged stance at once :)

Can they make it any clearer that they aren't pleased by the weather?

We didn't clear out the snow IN our run yet. That will happen tomorrow. Took forever to clear the driveway and the path to the coop. So the chicks aren't happy - they'll want the snow cleared out and a nice fresh carpet of shavings spread out to keep their little princess toes off of the toxic white stuff.

So nice to not loose power for a change. I'm exhausted from digging all the paths and the run. We got about 2 feet. How is everyone else doing?

I agree! so nice to not loose the power!!! I had a fun chicken moment on Sat when I went out to the coop... first I had to shovel my way to the enclosure, then shovel inside the enclosure to get to the door... the chickens were fussing the whole time anxiously waiting for me to open the coop... but of course when i finally got the door open they all just peered out in absolute horror... I do believe I can with complete confidence say that chickens do not like snow. I do have two mutt ee's, however, that were brave and soon hopped out... one flew up onto the fencing and sat viewing the world while I shoveled more and mused over how my ee'rs were more snow friendly then the others, and then suddenly she took flight, flew off about 30 ft. and landed plunk in the snow with her head sticking out... lord it was a funny moment... I dutifully trudged over to her and scooped her up . I spread hay on the ground so they could all mill about and get fresh air... otherwise some would not even venture out. We had about 18 inches here in Sandy Hook. Yesterday evening right after the roads opened I drove up to eastern to check in on my daughter and get her anything she needed... there was only one lane open driving thru Hartford... now I am back but my mom in Bridgeport by Ash Creek says her rds are still not even plowed out... crazy. I guess some areas just got more snow then others.

oh... and I tried giving my girls molassess in their water since its so cold and no forage available... they seemed to enjoy it.

We got hammered here in north western ct 32",took forever to clear couple of paths in chicken run. They say we might get another big one this weekend I hope not,I'm ready to get somemore chicks and don't want to deal with anymore snow.

In Old Lyme, I got almost 4 feet, lost power Fri nite, came back on 2:30 am this morn..Glad I brought the chickens in , because no way would I have got to them, and my luck a tree would have hit the rest of the coop.

Sooo they are in the basement, (going back out today! it's 40, foggy and raining!) but of course had chicken adventures...The "sussex" girls are bad bad, they both jumped on the cover of the makeshift pen, checking things out...My black kitty Boogie, hung out with them most of the time, I thought she as upstairs for the nite, shut the basement door, two hours later, she's meowing at the door, guess she decided to 'roost' with them awhile LOL..

Will post pics later, glad everyone's ok, down here the roads are a mess,
