tough ol'gal how did that happen...lol... she deserves a gold medal
She arrived as a day-old with the tip of her toe hanging on by a thread but it was already dead so I had to clip it the rest of the way off. It's summer I found her covered in blood from some injury to her comb. It don't know if it was another hen but more likely something sharp in the coop like a piece of wire maybe. It was another hanging on by a thread situation but a little more gory. Combs sure bleed a lot. A lot. I had to hold my breath and just lop off the rest of the flap with a very sharp blade. She didn't complain at all and it healed up nicely. Youd never know because its from the back of the comb. So she's had a little work done? No shame, it looks natural. We drew the line at botox.

She also got the tip of a toenail ripped a few weeks ago and that was also a real gusher. Just rinsed it but some ointment on it and wrapped it up in a bandaid. She is by far the most injury prone chicken in the flock. But really a devoted one - she will follow me around obediently. Not the usual rep for a leghorn. She is a flyer though and I had to trim her wing feathers after multiple escapes. The neighbors dog would have gotten her.

awww lol shes a trooper at one point my house was a sancuary for defective chickens lol, a scissor beak, a toe less one, a broken winged one, a blind one lol.... that was years ago, now the ones I just purchased a couple weeks ago (pullets) are un defective lol... Thats very good of you. Chickens have a harder time finding safe haven. I have that for scenario for cats. Was not on purpose but here we all are . I often wish they could live in a coop. There's a website devoted their condition- cerebellar hypoplasia- its not quite as dynamic as BYC. They are my zombie cats.

I hope SO!! Theyre 18 weeks and no eggs yet but Im sure once they start...they,re off to the races...And I also Love cats I have a F2 Bengal Named Sheba, Shes the Boss
