http://www.cga.ct.gov/2011/pub/chap490.htm#Sec26-40.htmDoes anyone know what "game birds" you need a permit for in CT? I know my town requires no permits as long as you have 3+ acres, but I was looking into getting some turkeys & quail, possibly some guineas. I found this license online on the DEP site which says for the possession of game birds. But I can't find a list of what CT considered a game bird. One "non official" list had ducks on it as well.
I did contact the DEP and the person I talked to didn't know! I'm waiting for them to get back to me, but I was hoping that I'd get lucky & someone else already knows this info![]()
On another note, anyone else from Berlin or the surrounding towns?

Looks like under the applicable CT statute (Sec. 26-40) it means everything except domestic turkeys:
["In the family Anatidae, all ducks, geese and swans; in the family Phasianidae, all quail, partridge and the following strains of pheasant: Blackneck, Chinese, English, Formosan, melanistic mutant and Mongolian or any cross-breeding thereof and for the purpose of section 22-327 all other members of this family shall be classed as domestic fowls; in the family Tetranoidae, the ruffed grouse; in the family Melegrididae, turkeys except domestic strains;..."]. (Oh, and sorry, you'll need to get that license to raise those skunks and raccoons you surely were hoping to raise...DARN!)
Not sure the nomenclature of Guineas what family they fall under. Probably need at least some kind of permit or min. acreage because they're noisy. They have them at Flamig farm in Simsbury, so you could always call them and ask what they needed to do? BTW, I believe that the history behind the backwards "EGGS" logo involves zoning requirements (re: signage), so bet the proprietor knows his stuff about the rules.
Going straight the source as you did is always the safest way to go. Them and your zoning board.
