Are there any good Wyandotte breeders in CT or even nearby New England somewhere? Looking for Blue Laced Red Wyandottes, but love them all. Seems like all the breeders are far away. Need some to add into my existing wyandotte flock...

No... no one was interested. Sadly the little russet colored girl drowned herself in the water cup I had for them. Sweet little thing and I had grown very fond of her. I have always used a small cat food can for the chicks which has always worked well in the past... I'm still a bit shocked. Happened yesterday while I was gone for the day. That leaves one singlet.... won't know if its cuckoo or birchen marans or if its male or female for awhile. My next hatch is due friday so it won't be alone for too much longer. I will have extras of both golden cuckoo marans and cream legbars, both autosexing breeds so I will be able to offer some female chicks to anyone interested. These I will be selling. I'll post when I know what I have.
This is very common. You have to use pebbles or marbles in the water to prevent this. So sorry.
Quote: Yes, I have read that. The dish seemed so small... how on earth it got itself stuck inside is hard to fathom as the chick was bigger than the can! Live and learn. If it can happen, it will.
Me too. It's like a cool miraculous present that opens itself! I'm sitting near the incubator and am hearing some squeaks. BCM They're scheduled to hatch on Friday!
Sorry about the chick. Had one just barely make it last week after getting impacted from eating wood chips and PDZ. The PDZ was my own dumb fault, but I've never had a chick so determined to eat wood chips. And I started own paper towels too. Coincidentally, this time I put pebbles in their waterer for the first time. Usually don't either. Part of this one's problem was not drinking enough water. So if not this, than that...
