Connecticut!

If you want to see them, go for a hike in a wooded area. I'd expect they'd be there. They have been emerging and some climb right up into the trees, but some emerge on low plant life, and hang around in the low brush in big groups. I know at our neighbors nearby who have not many trees in their yards, they have only seen a few. Our chickens are eating them by the dozen! The good thing about them is they don't bite or anything, just buzz. So if you do find some, feel free to pick them up! I'm a weirdo so I don't mind holding them. If you flip them over it's pretty easy to tell males from females too.

lol, I feel kinda feel sorry for people born past the 80's, we had it so good, No cell phones, no computers, were we'd run through the country with our friends investigating nature, building forts, clean innocent fun Nowadays kids dont even leave their homes when they get out of school, or even know how to hold a hammer, unless its virtual lol.......

I think your right, I mean ever since I was Little the summers always contained many Cicadas and their music, Actually whenI think of a hot dry summer day playing on my parents ranch I always associate the Cicada sound ;) what I would do to be a kid on summer vaca again lol!!! Don't remind me too be a kid again, those were the good days along time ago.

Now I definately feel old because I was born in the 60's but I agree we had too make our own fun,I don't even think the kids now a days know what an imagination is.

I was actually looking forward to it, from my geeky perspective.  I don't want them getting tangle in my hair but otherwise I thought it sounded cool.  Guess I am a sucker for the hype.  Matter of fact, during the last emergence of Brood II, I was fresh outta high school and in the same location.  I don't remember seeing any back then, either.
. I don't have to worry about the hair part of it but you are right i don't really remember them being a big deal in the 80's either but that could also be because of too much partying I don't remember much from that decade, but I did have fun haha...

lol I meant everything leading up into the 80's past that, it all started goin to chicken poop , along with the peruvian flake lol
