Connecticut!

Thanks Diane and I'll look into where you got your chickens great info if you want another shepherd the person that I get mine from might be getting another litter I think in October last I talked to her any ways thanks for the chicken sites I'll chk did them out what breed of chickens do you have? And do you use yours for eggs and meat? That is my plan

I was thinking they would eventually get cramped in that space. The total space behind the garage is about 10x17ft and then there is the main yard which is pretty large as far as city plots go. I plan to let them free range in the back yard when they are much larger and not an easy meal for cats. The cool thing is that one of my neighbor's offered her yard as part of that free range space. She is so awesome!

I hate going downtown with a passion

. The coop is a decent size for the chicks right now.

I hate going downtown too! I avoid it as much as possible. I NEVER shop there. I plan for the chickens to spend as much time in the yard as possible when they are bigger but until then I feel the need to keep them totally closed in their own little yard.

Def would not be fun too loose a chick to a stray cat or dog I am with you on wanting to keep them in the coop area till bigger...yah have to love awesome neighbor's I have some that can't wait till we get the chickens. Good luck with your new chicks

Thanks! I am really getting attached to them and my kids and I (probably mainly me) would be devastated if the cats killed any of them, especially if it could be prevented.

Andrew, I just use mine for eggs, cameronfamily farm will also process your chickens if you choose to go that route.

Where did you get your shepherds from? My last one is out of a slovakian import / ddr/czech male. Used to 'show', but life gets in the way in the last few years:)

i get my shepherds from a breeder in RI she has all the generations grandparents mom dad so you can see how well the older dogs are no hip problems in any of them which is good. Ive never shown to much time consuming which i already don't have enough time as it is lol. i process all my own meat i had a cow that i do all the processing myself i usually do a cow every December in the past i kept them at my buddies farm but now i have the land will prob keep all in house now.
