These sound like questions for them. I think they could explain their business model better than I could. I have corresponded with them . . . they seem nice enough, but I have not purchased from them yet.I'm actually a little confused as to what Hometown Hatchery is doing - are they hatching eggs? I saw they were asking for "deposits" of $10 and stated that it was to help to pay for the eggs. Well what if the eggs don't hatch or only some hatch? Will those who gave deposits but won't be able to get chicks, get their money back? I've never heard of someone asking for money for eggs that haven't hatched yet. Curious because they have some breeds listed that I would be interested in but I would not be willing to give a deposit if I wasn't in some way promised chicks.
I'm sending you a messageIf anyone is looking for Silkies, a friend of mine has a trio of blues for sale, rooster and two hens. I also have some unsexed chicks available in blue and splash.

I'm getting chicks from them at the end of April and was just asked to send them $10 non-refundable deposit. I thought it was strange but it's only $10. Sounds like he gets eggs from people he know and hatches/sexes them himself.
