Connecticut!

lol..tell that to the man in the bushes with a fork and a knife lol lol haha........I dont eat mine either, although my italian mother and father are dreaming of it lol

For some reason I cant bring my self to do it, cause they are mine, I grew up slaughtering animals witht he fam, now I dont casue i look at them like my pets, lol I get flashbacks of the smell of dipping thmein hot water to get the feathers off and want to yakkk!! That alone is enough!! lol I want more chickens now yours look so nice!!

Yuck. The only reason I grew up eating meat is because in Alaska we didn't have chickens or other animals that I was eating. I had pre-packaged meat that didn't look like it had ever been alive. I stopped eating meat before I got chickens but now that I have them, even the sight of it makes me sick.

How many/what type(s) do you have?

I have 12 chickens 7 red star crosses, and 4 white leghorns ( only because i was too impatient to raise baby chicks, and thats all that was available here in ct as POL pullets) I have a F2 bengal cat named sheba, 2 goats, I had 5 jersey catttle before I moved away, now that Im back I want atleast another lamb or goat, I also catch spay/neuter vacc. stray cats and help recoop. abandoned or injured ones.

That is awesome. Can I ask what part of CT? I wanted mini goats but I can't have them because I don't have enough land. I have also always wanted chickens. So one day my girlfriend asked me if I really wanted chickens and said that if I did she would build me a chicken coop. I think I brought them home that same night. :)

I have a mini zoo, I also have: two dogs, two cats, two birds and two ferrets. I have always wanted to live on a farm.

I live in Northford county of North branford lol Boonies...Im actually looking for a female lamb or goat so IF ANYONE IN CT HAS ONE THEY WANT TO SELL Im your man lol .....I love animals, and for some reason farm animals, like most of us here people think we are crazy chicken people but I havent met one person I liked that didnt own an animal lol

So I double checked and on this link from BYC (what I originally read) it says in a little box at the top "Are roosters allowed?" and then "No." for an answer.

https://www.backyardchickens.com/a/bristol-connecticut-chicken-ordinance

Although reading the actual zoning ordinance and looked up the most recent amended version and neither specifically say that you can't have a rooster, only that you can have 12 "fowl".

Thank you guys! Now I just need to sway my neighbor (he's nice) or hope that my buff either turns out to be a hen, or doesn't learn how to crow. There was a rooster on my street the first week I lived here and he only crowed one day, so I assumed from the beginning that they weren't allowed.

I would start by offering free eggs... lol.. no one complains in my neighborhood.

I did that when we first got ours... actually, its why I got chickens... the ticks were so bad here 3 years ago we were finding them climbing on us after just walking around gravel driveway in front of the garage! Now, nothing. That is why it surprises me that I keep getting people telling me chickens don't eat ticks, only guinea fowl. Okay... well, sure looks to me like you can enjoy fresh eggs and live tick free despite what I keep being told.
