Hello and Welcome! I already have a Roo Silkie but I think Sam is looking for one. Try sending them a PM and let them know. ttyl, B

Ok. They are only 3-4 weeks old now and we aren't sure how many will end up being Roos. We may try to keep one, and I don't think we'll be lucky enough that the other 11 are girls.

Ut-Oh your probably right. They are hard to sex till they get much older. I personally can't tell unless they crow and most Silkies that I've had don't crow much at all!

Hey All CT Peeps,
I posted something on the Chicken stock page. I Figured I'd post here too. Anyone do a Chicken stock/swap in CT? If not anyone interested in doing one? I would but, I do not have the right place to host. But, would love to help if anyone does one.
Thanks, Beth

Here is a link to the 2009 CT Chickenstock thread in case someone hasn't found it on their own. I think it may have some discussion about those who might be interested in doing it again but at a different location. Not sure. We had a blast at those two Chickenstocks at MooseHillFarm's place.
Wish we had space to do one here but we don't.

Hey,

I'm sorry Sam I must have logged out and not seen this. I was busy loading up a For Sale on the Silkie I just rescued. I know you do not want any Roo's but, would you know anyone else in your Chicky Group or 4-H that might? He's for free!! He also was shown by a young girl at the Hartford County 4-H and I don't know how he placed but, the Female Hen was Grand Champion. They are from the same Roo and Hen full bro and sis...

Let me know.

Thanks,
Beth

We've got 8 hens, 2 White Leghorns, 2 Black sex-links and 4 Golden Comets... They're just 17 weeks old, and we've just started getting eggs from two of them..In fact, the first egg we discovered in the nest box was a double-yolker !!

Good job Momma-hen !!

Always a learning process with these hens, quite the experience !!!

I haven't heard from her in ages. She put a lot into the two she did and was hoping someone else would take a turn. There have been other gatherings in Southern New England since then but I haven't been able to attend. If something gets planned someone can link it to the CT thread so we'll all find it.
