The snow is almost all gone. We live on the top of a hill, but the mud is sooo bad now I can barely get into the run! We're getting 1-3 eggs a day now out of 5 hens. Not bad for first time layers.

I just learned today that my girls have an issue with pumpernickle bread.

The day before Christmas I sent DH to Harvest to pick up a whole loaf of marbled rye so I could make one of those awesome dill dip bowls for the evening festivities.

He comes home with sliced pumpernickle and I figure no big deal the girls will eat it.

I went and got a bunch of pine needles(The long ones) and spread them around the run so my girls are not walking in the mud.

Hi Guys and Gals, I live in East Haven. The armpit of Connecticut. Anyway, Im just starting into this chicken adventure this year. I will be building a coop as soon as the ground thaws and have a list of bantams I want to fill it with. Does anyone around this states breed Bearded Silkie Bantams?
