Well... I now have 7 chickens.

A friend lost 5 of 9 chickens to a dog within days of bringing them home. Lost two more to a stray cat a few weeks later. Got through the winter with two birds. Today a fox got one more

and she couldn't bear to keep a solo chicken, so Miss Pippa the Dominique is currently in isolation at my house. She also suffered a bite from the fox, but not terribly bad. This chicken was brooded in my garage last fall and it recently visited for three weeks while my friend was on vacation. So my girls are already familiar with this chicken and so far seem rather bored except to put their heads through the fence to steal her pellets. Poor baby. I can tell she misses her friend. Poor my friend, I know she misses her chickies.

I lost my silkie rooster to a hawk this weekend! All I did was let the silkies out to get some sunshine and grass and the hawk swooped down 10 ft in front of me and took him!!

Luke13:34 I really feel for you friend, but it's nice to know her lone chicken has a good home with soon to be new chicken friends. And Beth, I used to love hawks. Now that I'm a chicken owner not so much. I'm so sorry for your loss.

I'm thinking of getting a pair of diamond doves to add to my finch flight cage. Does anyone know anyone in CT with any diamond doves? Thanks, KimberlyJ
