Connecticut!

Beth G. :

Eckkkk I just looked outside and there are three hawks circling my chicken pens!!!!!!!!! I'm glad all my banties are under cover or under aviary netting! But, my large fowl is out and about....

My husbands solution would be a gun.
Though after telling him about your silkie he is now thinking a very strong top for our run.

Haha mine too except a hefty fine goes with it in the state of CT so unfortunately the only solution is what your hubby is doing

Yeah, but I'm not sure what the fine is for a beebee gun. Yup the secure run is much better than guns around kids and in a neighborhood.

I'm interested in this too-- I'd like to process my own roos but am getting some static from one neighbor before the ladies are even out in the yard. He'll go nutso if he figures out I'm processing too.

Hi,

I can show you how my husband I have been doing our own meaties for years. However, no one can process poultry in CT and charge unless they've got a permit and the USDA inspecting them

But, like I said I can help you if you'd like and show you how to do two of them. All you need is a big huge pot of hot not quite boiling water. Lots of news paper. A sharp knife, another pot of salted cold water, and packaging. Oh and a place to bag up the yuckies and feathers

Its part of our lifestyle. My DH and I are farmers and we live off the land as much as possible. We like to know what goes into our food so we know what we are putting in our bodies. I didn't mean to offend
