Wow you all are so good! I am so far behind in planting!! I still have my chickens in two of my gardens. Lately all I've been doing is building portable breeding chicken pens!! I need to get those done before I can do anything with my gardens
chickens in the garden wasn't what got me - it's chickens in the strawberry bed.
One fine Friday afternoon last September I took down all of my garden fencing. My intention was to put it back up on Saturday in a more chicken friendly arrangement. My new arrangement would give them access to some of their favorite yard locations that they couldn't access regularly. While still keeping them out of the gardens and off the back deck.
That Friday night I ended up in the ER with a 12x3 kidney stone, I was out of commision for 10 days. the fencing never made it back up.
damages -
every single blade of grass in the backyard including the root
over 400 strawberry plants
most of my perrenial herbs
I discovered the hard way that the only thing in the backyard that the chickens didn't eat was the catnip.
Secretly - I believe they would've eaten the catnip if the cats didn't threaten bodily harm, I just wasn't privy to the conversation!

Oh no that has too suck, so much extra work and expense to replace all of those. I am glad you are better though.
Beth I will keep you updated and Happy Easter to you and your family too
