New Chick 203, I'd so a no go on the dog house for one reason only, how would you clean it through the dog entrance only? If it had a hinged roof I'd say go for it but, I personally would be cursing at the thing everytime I had to get on my hands and knees to clean it

Then again, I see you posted he said not so, moot point.........lol

Ok. Just had this guy deliver a big, homemade- but solidly built- rabbit hutch. I'm going to disinfect it and do some retrofitting of it to be a bantam coop. Can't decide if I want to put it inside the run or just wrap the bottom with hardware cloth and have it next to the run as a completely seperate area. The sleeping area is 2x3 and the run area would be 4x3 for (eventually) two (three?) bantams.

If I put it inside the run then the banties will need to get along with the big girls but would have a place to get away from them. My worry about having it outside the run is the banties won't have the option of snuggling up with the big girls when it gets cold.

Everyone gets the opportunity to "free range" (either together or staggered) in the yard a couple times a day.

I'd keep them separate but that's just me I guess. Anytime I've but banties with Large fowl, the bantie get beat up

Fine so far. Good setter. My main worry is another girl with bumble foot. We got it all cleaned up, but I just changed the bandage in I expected the swelling to go down by now, it's been a week. My DH is very upset.

If the infection spread to the bloodstream you are going to have to treat w liquid anti-biotics to get the infection gone. Hope the chickie foot feels better soon!

If the infection spread to the bloodstream you are going to have to treat w liquid anti-biotics to get the infection gone. Hope the chickie foot feels better soon!

She's on them already, but it's been hard to get her to take them. Tonight I resorted to squirting it right down her throat rather than putting it on food.

be careful forcing liquids it can get into lungs and cause more problems

one drop at a time baby. Hope the forcing of the antibiotics helps

Out of curiosity what antibiotics are you using? Just curious

Sulpha-trimeth. I have to admit after I did the surgery I got nervous and went to the vet to have them look at it. he cleaned it a bit more but said I had done an OK job. He said this is what the latest findings are saying to use.
